E. Jerri Seyfors, 87, of 207 Maynard Ave, Crestline, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Magnolia Terrace, Galion. She had been in declining health for the past year.

Jerri was born in Ned, KY on September 9, 1922, to the late Seldon and Cora (Campbell) Francis. She married Albert D. Seyfors on June 22, 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 7, 1997.

Jerri lived in Crestline since 1940 having moved from Tiffin. Following the death of her father when she was six years old, she was placed in the National Orphans Home in Tiffin, along with five of her siblings. The home was sponsored by the Junior Order United American Mechanics, and was created to care for children who had lost their fathers. Her father or his employer, were contributing members of the Junior Order, which turned out to be a Godsend to the family. Jerri and her family became part of a new family: the other children with whom they were raised. They referred to themselves as “Home Kids”. The Home Kids have remained close and stayed in touch with each other ever since the “Children’s Home” closed in the 1940’s. They continue to have Home Kids reunions, extending bonds on to the next generation. After the “Children’s Home” closed, the facility was the Tiffin State Hospital for many years and is now the current site of the Tiffin Developmental Center. Jerri was an outgoing and engaging woman with scores of friends. She wintered in Florida for over thirty years and made many friends there. Jerri enjoyed bowling and golfing.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in law, Bruce and Tracy Seyfors, Galion; her three grandchildren, Alyssa Seyfors, at home, Hannah Seyfors, at home, and Brooke and Jun Wyn Beringuel, Parma; her two great-grandchildren, Miles Beringuel and Zane Beringuel; her brother, Larry and Mary Lou Francis, Arcanum; her sister, Dorothy Reynolds, Yuma, AZ; her half brother, Arnett Noble, Campton, KY; and her half sister, Flossie Fields, Loss Creek, KY.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Seyfors; her infant son, Craig Seyfors; her brothers, Garfield, James and Elmer Francis; her sister, Zola Fugate; her half brothers, Holbert, Dexter and Delbert Noble; and her half sisters, Florence Van Hook and Emma Lou Williams.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 28, 2010 after 2:00 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service which will be held at 4:00 p.m., at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline, with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating. Burial for the family will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.

Online condolences may be made to the family at www.masfh.com

Obituary taken from the Mansfield News Journal.
